What happens when your job becomes your identity? “You Are Not Your Job” explores the risks of tying our self-worth too closely to work and how hobbies, interests, and meaningful pursuits outside of our careers can help us build a stronger identity, navigate career change and job loss, and create a more fulfilling life beyond work. Celeste Bell is a former C-suite HR executive turned professor and researcher whose work focuses on identity, work, and resilience. She’s also a 70-time marathoner who has run on every continent and uses serious leisure as a live experiment in what it means to build a self that’s bigger than a job title. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
