Exploring the motivation behind good deeds, Logan’s talk investigates how validation can distort our intentions. Logan contrasts his journey with validation against his grandfather, a World War II freedom fighter, who avoided praise, saying “anyone would have done it.” But not everyone did, and Logan unpacks why and what this contrast reveals about the true drivers of moral action. Logan Eliot is a recent graduate from the University of St Andrews with a degree in Economics and Sustainable Development. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
