Through her practice visual artist Julie Brook will explore the idea of what it is to be in our element. Brook makes sculptural work outside responding directly to the landscape and materials to hand. She will speak about her experience of living on the uninhabited west coast of Jura and how this influences her practice today. Julie Brook is a visual artist who works predominantly outdoors on large scale sculptural work. Her work is directly influenced by the many unique environments she has worked in including the west coast of Jura, the uninhabited island of Mingulay as well as further afield in South West Libya, Syria and Namibia. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
