Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday threatened retaliation against Western countries over the seizure of Russian-linked commercial vessels, calling the actions “piracy” and “robbery” and saying Moscow would be forced to respond. Speaking during a visit to Russia’s Pacific Fleet, Putin said any retaliation would not necessarily occur in the waters where Russian vessels were detained and could take place “in any area” Moscow considered necessary. The Pacific Fleet chief, Admiral Viktor Liina, told Putin that the navy was prepared to begin inspections of commercial ships serving countries deemed unfriendly to Russia. Putin also visited the Zvezda shipbuilding plant near Vladivostok, where he inspected the Pyotr Stolypin gas tanker, and later visited the Kapitan Yunak fishing trawler. #putin #vladimirputin #russia #russianavy #pacificfleet #russiawest #russiaukraine #geopolitics #maritimesecurity #russianfleet #shipseizures #russiaretaliation #putinwarning #vladivostok #russiana
