Can you actually taste the difference between budget and premium ingredients… and is the expensive version really worth it? In this blind taste test, we put cheap vs expensive ingredients head-to-head to find out where the extra money really goes. Is it better flavour? Better texture? Better sourcing? Better ingredients? Or just better branding? We tested 4 Categories in real dishes: Sesame Oil in Yukhoe Frozen Garlic Bread with Pasta Bolognese Rogan Josh Curry Sauce in a Lamb Rogan Josh Granny Smith Apples in a Crab Salad Some of these products looked similar. Some had wildly different price tags. And some premium ingredients came with all the right claims; handcrafted, hand-picked, natural, Michelin-linked, high-quality sourcing, traditional production methods. But once it came down to the actual tasting… could we tell?
