EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said on Wednesday that European countries had failed to reach any concrete agreement on providing additional Patriot air-defence missiles to Ukraine at an informal meeting of defence ministers in Ireland, although discussions would continue. Kallas warned that the risk from Russia’s increasingly kinetic attacks was rising and said Moscow was “testing us all the time,” while urging European governments to be prepared to act on their warnings. She also said the European Union was preparing what she described as its biggest sanctions package targeting Russia’s military industry, aimed at weakening its weapons production and restricting access to foreign components. Kallas acknowledged that Europe was “not doing enough to stop this” and announced plans for a new high-level defence group involving EU countries, Britain and Ukraine to develop recommendations for closing gaps in Europe’s conventional military capabilities within NATO. #ukraine #russia #uk
