Reform UK’s brand new “shadow” chancellor has said he will “diffuse the benefits bomb” with a bold economic agenda. But as Camilla and Tim listened to Robert Jenrick’s big speech to the City this morning, they both thought it sounded distinctly Tory-like… He promised to keep the Office for Budget Responsibility and protect the Bank of England’s independence, which will have disappointed some of the more Liz Truss-oriented people in the room. The party has also reverse ferreted on its promise to scrap the two-child benefit cap, bringing it in line with the Conservatives’ policy.
