Iran has seized a vessel carrying 382,000 litres of allegedly smuggled diesel in the northern Gulf and arrested its 11-member foreign crew, according to state broadcaster IRIB. The operation comes as Tehran intensifies its crackdown on fuel smuggling amid rising regional tensions. The seizure follows reports of intelligence-led operations targeting illegal fuel transport by sea. Fuel smuggling has remained a major challenge for Iran due to heavily subsidized domestic fuel prices, creating lucrative opportunities for traffickers supplying neighbouring countries. The incident also unfolds against the backdrop of escalating US-Iran tensions, the ongoing West Asia conflict, and concerns over the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, crude oil prices slipped as traders assessed the impact of renewed military strikes and the risk to global energy supplies. #iran #gulf #diesel #fuelsmuggling #oil #crudeoil #brentcrude #wti #straitofhormuz #middleeast #westasia #breakingnews #geopolitics #energy #sh
