Russia and Serbia are strengthening trade and economic cooperation despite what Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak described as a challenging international environment, Novak said on Thursday during talks with Srbijagas Supervisory Board Chair Aleksandar Vulin in Vladivostok. Novak said joint projects in energy, transport, infrastructure and information technology were helping deepen bilateral ties, while energy remained a key area of cooperation. He said Russian companies including Gazprom, Gazpromneft, Lukoil and Power Machines were operating in Serbia. Vulin thanked Moscow for what he described as a reliable and stable supply of energy resources. Novak also referred to a five-year programme for economic cooperation signed following a meeting of the countries' intergovernmental commission in Belgrade in April.
