Russia and China are exploring the Power of Baikal pipeline as a potential new route to expand Russian natural gas supplies to China, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said on Friday. Speaking at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, Novak said energy remains central to the two countries’ economic relationship, with pipeline gas exports through the Power of Siberia network steadily increasing. He said Russia was also preparing the Far Eastern gas route while continuing discussions on other projects, including Power of Baikal.
