Spain's migration crisis in Ceuta has intensified after around 72,000 people crossed or attempted to enter the Spanish North African enclave from neighbouring Morocco on July 30 and 31. Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez defended Madrid's response, rejecting calls for ever-higher border walls and arguing that poverty, conflict and inequality will continue driving migration. The crisis has triggered mass protests, clashes with riot police, worsening conditions in makeshift migrant camps and renewed demands for greater European Union support. Sanchez has also called for stronger security coordination with Morocco while insisting Ceuta and Melilla remain Spanish territory. A flotilla of around 50 boats later sailed to Ceuta in solidarity, underscoring the growing political and social tensions surrounding Spain's migration policy. #ceuta #spain #migrationcrisis #spainmigration #ceutacrisis #morocco #sanchez #pedrosanchez #europe #eumigration #bordercrisis #migrantcrisis #madrid #protests #eu #
