Indian-American Congressman Suhas Subramanyam says the FBI monitored his phone calls with Virginia State Senator Louise Lucas as part of a court-authorised wiretap. Subramanyam is questioning why his calls were intercepted and whether the surveillance was politically motivated. The development comes amid an FBI corruption investigation involving Lucas and a wider political battle over Virginia’s redistricting fight. Subramanyam has also raised questions about the timing, as Congress was pressing then-Attorney General Pam Bondi over the Justice Department’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files. While there is no evidence the investigations are coordinated, the controversy is fueling fresh scrutiny of the FBI and DOJ.
