Dino Isaac surprised his Primary 3 form teacher, Teresa Lee, who had been an important source of care during a difficult childhood. His mother was homeless when Dino was born, after fleeing his abusive father. At five, Dino was placed in a children’s home under a protection order. Teresa bought him food when he did not have enough pocket money, put him in choir and personally sent him back to the home when performances ended late. At their reunion, Dino told Teresa he had once wished she could adopt him because he felt she was the only person who cared about his development. He never knew Teresa had had similar thoughts, but kept them to herself because she was not married at the time.
