Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered a three-day halt to strikes on Kyiv beginning September 6, according to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, as U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner prepare to visit the Ukrainian capital following talks in Moscow. The announcement comes after Ukraine reportedly proposed a broader ceasefire ahead of diplomatic discussions, a proposal Russia initially rejected while continuing attacks across the country. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russian forces deliberately targeted airports in Kyiv and Boryspil before the pause was announced, but said Ukraine would not interfere with the diplomatic process. The temporary halt has raised questions about whether Moscow is signaling a willingness to negotiate or merely creating a brief diplomatic window during the high-profile U.S. visit. putin, kyiv, ukrainewar, russiaukrainewar, trump, stevewitkoff, jaredkushner, zelensky, kremlin, ceasefire, kyivstrikes, breakingnews, geopolitics, rus
