House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) held a comprehensive news conference detailing the Democratic Party's legislative agenda ahead of the critical Department of Homeland Security funding deadline. Addressing ongoing investigations, Leader Jeffries discussed the FBI's investigation into convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, following the release of new unredacted documents and a closed-door deposition where co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell declined to answer questions from lawmakers. Jeffries outlined Democratic demands to restrict Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations—including banning agent masks, requiring body cameras, and demanding judicial warrants—as conditions for DHS funding. Furthermore, Jeffries firmly rejected Republican efforts to attach the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act to the spending bill, labeling the legislation as voter suppression and declaring that it has no path to passage in the Senate. #live #hakeemjeffries #jeffries
