If Jordan Bardella is perturbed by the scandal engulfing Reform – a party with which his own is now closely and publicly aligned – it doesn’t show. We meet at Birmingham’s NEC, just outside the secure zone, on the morning his latter-day entente cordiale with Nigel Farage will be announced. Tall and immaculate in a grey suit, Bardella has a hectic few hours ahead, including an hour-long appearance on French television before he takes to the main stage at Reform’s conference. And then there’s the business that has brought him here in the first place: putting his name to a remarkable agreement with Farage on the issue that has bedevilled successive British governments. The 30-year-old president of France’s National Rally (RN) has come to the Midlands, just for the day, to sign a new Anglo-French agreement on the small boats. ► Sign up to the Telegraph's free new daily newsletter, From the Editor, bringing you the latest news, features and analysis from the Telegraph newsroom: www
