Hundreds of anti-migration protesters gathered in Portsmouth after around 140 people travelling in a small boat were intercepted in the Channel and brought to the city, leading to blocked roads, a major police operation and a dispersal order. The unrest comes as a Home Office whistleblower alleges widespread abuse of Britain's asylum system, while immigration remains one of the country's most contentious political issues. Nigel Farage and French National Rally leader Jordan Bardella have also signed an agreement proposing the return of Channel migrants to France if their parties enter government.
