North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has commissioned the 5,000-tonne Kang Kon destroyer, declaring that the warship will form part of Pyongyang’s state nuclear response system capable of delivering what he described as “annihilating retaliatory strikes.” The move comes as North Korea accelerates its naval modernisation and expands its nuclear-capable forces, while the United States, South Korea and Japan begin the five-day Freedom Edge military exercise around the Korean Peninsula. Kim also promised another stage of naval expansion within eight months, as Pyongyang develops new naval bases, warships and naval units. The latest move signals a growing effort by North Korea to extend its nuclear deterrence into the maritime domain. #northkorea #kimjongun #nuclear #nuclearweapons #nuclearthreat #kangkon #destroyer #navy #military #missiles #us #southkorea #japan #freedomedge #koreanpeninsula #geopolitics #asiapacific #militarynews #worldnews #timesnowworld Stay connected with Times Now Wor
