A request from her daughter delayed Yu Li Lo on the morning of Sep 11, 2001 – and may have saved her life. Yu Li worked at Windows on the World, the restaurant complex on the 106th and 107th floors of the World Trade Center’s North Tower. She had planned to arrive at work early that morning, but her daughter asked her to braid her hair before she left. Yu Li arrived at 8.50am, four minutes after American Airlines Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower. For years, she avoided looking at the World Trade Center site when she passed it. In 25 years, she has visited the 9/11 memorial only once.
