By Any Means director Elegance Bratton sits down with MovieWeb’s Joe Deckelmeier to break down his new crime thriller starring Mark Wahlberg and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. Bratton talks about blending noir, mafia drama, civil rights history and action, and explains how John Woo, Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino influenced the film’s style. He also reveals how conversations with the real Scarpa and Dahmer families changed scenes during production, including an emotional moment when Greg Scarpa Jr. saw his family recreated on set. Plus, Joe follows up on their 2022 conversation about Blade, and Bratton makes it clear he still wants a shot at Marvel’s vampire hunter — even sending a direct message to Kevin Feige to hear his pitch. By Any Means is in theaters now.
