Flights are being diverted and passengers face major disruption following a reported air traffic control failure affecting Heathrow and other UK airports. Travel correspondent Simon Calder says incoming services from Tokyo have been diverted to Paris and Manchester, warning that “mass cancellations” could follow. He says tens of thousands of passengers may be left away from their intended destinations and the resulting costs could run into millions of pounds.
