Reform UK councillor George Madgwick accuses policing minister Sarah Jones of giving a false account of the protest following the arrival of a migrant boat in Portsmouth. Madgwick, who says he was at the scene from the afternoon until 3am, disputes the characterisation of protesters as intimidating or thuggish. He claims the gathering initially consisted largely of local families and residents, although he acknowledges that a smaller group wearing balaclavas arrived later. The Hampshire Reform UK leader also demands to know who authorised the reception operation at Eastney, saying marquees, coaches, clothing and food appeared to have been prepared in advance.
