Britain is preparing to mobilise thousands of military veterans in a major war-readiness drill as fears grow over the country’s ability to withstand a major conflict. Armed Forces minister Louise Sandher-Jones has revealed that the exercise will take place next year as part of a wider operation to test Britain’s resilience in the event of war. A cohort from the UK's 95,000-strong “strategic reserve” of retired troops will be called back into action on a scale “we haven’t seen for a long time”, she said. Speaking with Former Defence Select Committee Chair Tobias Ellwood, Talk's Duncan Barkes says: "Be kind enough just to explain what kind of exercise this would be. I mean, what would veterans be expected to do?" #veterans #army #duncanbarkes #talk Have you got a story?
