What if one of the most powerful forms of prevention is helping people feel like they belong? Through stories from her mother's kitchen table, conversations through FirstLink and the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, and her own experience with grief, Jennifer Illich explores how human connection shapes our lives. This talk challenges the idea that people need perfect words or solutions and instead highlights the power of creating belonging, staying present, and making room for one more chair. At its heart, this is a talk about the energy that exists between us and the impact of helping people feel seen, valued, and connected. Jennifer Illich is the Executive Director of FirstLink, a nonprofit organization providing 24/7 crisis support, suicide prevention, and connection to community resources across North Dakota and parts of Minnesota. She has spent more than a decade leading efforts to strengthen how communities respond to people experiencing crisis, including through the 988 Suicide
