Police open criminal investigation into Reform UK over allegations of illegal funding

Reform UK finds itself under criminal investigation on Wednesday night- after claims the party breached laws on foreign funds. It is illegal to accept money from voters or businesses based outside the UK, but undercover filming by investigative journalists Verbatim, which aired last week by Channel 4, appeared to show senior party figures discussing how to disguise the source of overseas donations. On Wednesday evening the Metropolitan Police said it had found ‘potential offences requiring investigation’. No arrests have been made and Reform themselves deny ‘any wrongdoing’. #reformuk #ukpolitics #farage
