Martyn Kurrant wanted to undergo dental work after gum disease had affected his smile and 15 of his teeth were severely damaged or missing. After being quoted £40,000 for the work in the UK, Martyn chose to travel to Turkey where he could have the treatments for just £6,400 over a six month period. Three months after the initial procedure, he collapsed at home and was rushed to hospital, after an infection in his sinus spread to his brain. He has since undergone five brain surgeries, had a titanium head plate fitted and has had to learn to walk and talk again. He is now taking legal action against the clinic in Turkey - who deny any wrongdoing - and joins us today to share his story alongside his mum Sue and brother Jon. Dr Rhona is also here to warn people about dental tourism and why it’s so important people understand the risks before seeking treatment outside of the UK. Broadcast on 10/09/2026.
