New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Governor Kathy Hochul and Schools Chancellor Kamar H. Samuels have officially launched NYC’s landmark free universal 2-K program on the first day of school. The initiative provides full-day, full-year early care and education for two-year-olds, beginning with roughly 2,000 children selected through a lottery from more than 5,700 applicants. Backed by an initial $73 million investment, the program is expected to expand significantly, with plans for 10,000 to 12,000 additional seats next year. The launch marks a major step toward Mamdani’s broader promise of universal child care across New York City. #ZohranMamdani #Mamdani #NYC #NYC2K #2KProgram #UniversalChildCare #NYCChildCare #NewYorkCity #KathyHochul #NYCSchools #NYCParents #EarlyChildhoodEducation #ChildCare #FreeChildCare #UniversalPreK #NYCEducation #NYCNews #NewYorkNews #FirstDayOfSchool #BreakingNews #NYCPolitics #MamdaniNews #NYC2KProgram #ChildcareForAll ---------------------------------
