The drug pricing law people heard about several years ago is now real: the first Medicare-negotiated prices took effect Jan. 1, 2026. Medicare can now negotiate prices for some of its most expensive, widely used drugs, including medications used to treat conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, blood clots, arthritis, kidney disease and cancer. More drugs will be added to negotiation in future years, helping keep pressure on high prescription drug prices over time. This video is part of a paid partnership with AARP.
