By now, you've probably heard the news: PlayStation is stepping away from Physint. Announced in January 2024, the “next-generation action espionage game” would mark Kojima Productions' return to the genre after Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. Details were sparse at the time, but Kojima noted that Sony also did movies, and that this would be a “movie” at the same time. The tease of Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group and Columbia Pictures perhaps hinted at some live-action component, if not a companion film. After all, if the man who's accomplished almost everything in the industry has ever wanted anything, it's to direct a movie.
