Update: On Thursday, the FDA announced a *new* cyclospora outbreak linked to a product “not yet identified.” The agency launched a traceback investigation — following foods eaten by those who became sick back through the supply chain “all the way back to a farm or production facility” — to identify a possible source. The outbreak remains under investigation.  The announcement comes as questions remain concerning a separate cyclospora outbreak linked to iceberg lettuce supplied by Taylor Farms de Mexico and served at certain Taco Bell locations and other restaurants. Taylor Farms has recalled from the U.S. market all iceberg lettuce products sourced from central Mexico, which were sold to various food service suppliers and retailers — including Marketside-brand lettuce sold at select Walmart stores. Although the FDA withdrew a positive cyclospora test after determining it produced a false positive, both the CDA and FDA say evidence still points to Taylor Farms de Mexico as the source.
