The European Commission has approved a €6.1 billion defence tranche for Ukraine, allowing Kyiv to use funds from the EU’s €90 billion support loan to purchase weapons, including U.S.-made PAC-3 Patriot interceptors. EU Defense Commissioner Andrius Kubilius said the latest approval brings the total defence funding cleared for Ukraine under the loan this year to €28.3 billion. However, the decision does not guarantee immediate delivery of Patriot missiles, which remain in global short supply. Ukrainian Defence Minister Yevhenii Khmara said Kyiv is contracting around 1,000 Patriot missiles with allied support, but most are expected to arrive only in the coming years. The package comes as Ukraine prepares for another winter of Russian strikes against its energy infrastructure. #ukraine, #russia, #eu, #europeanunion, #kyiv, #patriotmissiles, #patriot, #ukrainewar, #russiaukrainewar, #zelenskyy, #putin, #defence, #military, #war, #geopolitics, #nato, #europe, #breakingnews, #worldnews, #ukra
