It was "perfectly clear" that the United States was under attack on Sept. 11, 2001, once a second plane hit the World Trade Center complex, says retired Rear Adm. Deborah Loewer. Loewer, former director of the White House Situation Room, was traveling with then-President George W. Bush in Florida on 9/11. She and Rob Hargis, who was the senior duty officer in the White House Situation Room on 9/11, joined Compass Points host Nick Schifrin and recalled how Bush learned the U.S. was under attack. Compass Points from PBS News analyzes prominent international affairs topics and America’s role in a shifting world, breaking down global conflicts, rising tensions, and their implications for U.S. interests.
