The Bab el-Mandeb Strait is facing renewed security concerns as Houthi forces claim control of Yemen’s side of the strategic waterway following advances along the Red Sea coast. Footage circulating online reportedly shows a Houthi fighter warning that coastal artillery, including positions on Perim Island, could be used against vessels that refuse the group’s demands. The claims of complete control over international shipping have not been independently verified. Perim, also known as Mayyun, sits at the strait’s narrowest point and divides the waterway into two channels, raising concerns that ground-based weapons could threaten one of the world’s key maritime routes. #Houthis #Yemen #BabElMandeb #RedSea #Shipping #MaritimeSecurity #PerimIsland #Mayyun #MiddleEast #Geopolitics #GlobalTrade #ShippingCrisis #SeaRoute #InternationalTrade #Security #oneindianews #oneindiaenglish #breakingnews #worldnews #englishnewslive #englishnews #latestnews #news ----------------------------------
