Tambaram railway station is set for a major transformation, with Southern Railway proposing to increase the number of tracks from 10 to 15. The expansion could enable more long-distance trains, ease operational pressure at Egmore and strengthen Tambaram’s role as Chennai’s third railway terminal. New passenger facilities, including a second foot overbridge, nine elevators, 10 escalators and waiting halls, are also planned. Track development and platform extension works are underway and are expected to be completed by March next year. The redevelopment could make Tambaram a key railway hub connecting Chennai with southern Tamil Nadu and other destinations. Thank you for watching our video!
