World leaders gathered in New Delhi for the two-day BRICS summit have issued a joint statement, calling for maximum restraint in the Middle East and a pause on unilateral acts of aggression. The joint statement also calls for an end to Israeli violence in Gaza, support for the UN agency that delivers aid to Palestinian refugees, and full United Nations membership for Palestine, while notably omitting reference to the war in Ukraine.
