US President Donald Trump has downplayed fears on the development of artificial intelligence, despite widespread concerns on the technology's safety. Trump says he does not want America to concede its AI edge to China. He adds that while there is need for regulation, "negative forces" are behind warnings and the push for oversight. He's added that some of the fears will not happen and "whoever wins with AI, wins". Aya Ibrahim is a senior visiting fellow for economic and national security at the AI Now Institute and served as a senior advisor in the White House Office of Science and Technology, told Al Jazeera that messages from world leaders raise doubts about how they intend to use AI.
