Yemen's Houthi rebels have seized the strategic islands of Greater and Lesser Hanish in the southern Red Sea. The move strengthens their control over a key maritime shipping route. Houthi officials announced the takeover Monday, amid Saudi-backed government forces' attempts to reclaim territory. A crucial Saudi oil pipeline will mostly be out of service for weeks as damage from an attack is repaired. The East-West Pipeline, which runs across the kingdom, is key to Saudi Arabia’s strategy of shifting its oil exports to the Red Sea to avoid the Persian Gulf’s Strait of Hormuz. And Amazon says it has suspended its partnership with 21 Air after one of its cargo planes careened 1,300 feet off a Miami runway last week. Five people were killed after the plane struck a cleaning van. The North Carolina carrier had flown packages for Amazon since 2024.
