India's consumer inflation rose to 4.82% in August from 4.45% in July, with food prices remaining the biggest driver of the increase. Food inflation stood at 5.66%, while rural inflation continued to run higher than urban inflation. Teresa John, Research & Lead Economist and Deputy Head at Nirmal Bang, decodes the latest inflation print and explains why the rise in prices may not warrant an immediate RBI rate hike. She discusses the pressures coming from food prices, sugar and onions, the rural-urban inflation gap, sticky prices in restaurants and accommodation, pricing power in premium categories and the risks from imported inflation. Watch the full conversation for what the latest inflation numbers could mean for consumers, rural India and the RBI's next policy move. #Inflation #RBI #IndiaInflation #CPI #FoodInflation #IndianEconomy #InterestRates #CrudeOil #Economy #NDTVProfit For more videos subscribe to our channel: https://www.youtube.com/@NDTVProfitIndia Visit NDTV Profit
