Matthew Rhys speaks after an extraordinary night at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards, where he took home two major acting awards for ‘The Beast in Me’ and ‘Widow’s Bay.’ Still stunned by the historic achievement, Rhys admits he is “slightly giddy and a little bit dizzy” and says he genuinely cannot believe what has happened. Rhys discusses the tonal freedom of Widow’s Bay, praising director Hiro Murai for helping the series find its delicate balance between comedy and darker elements. He also reflects on his Welsh roots, his career advice from mentors, and a memorable piece of wisdom from Tom Hanks. The actor also jokes about his partner Keri Russell’s Emmy nomination, revealing the playful — and perhaps not-so-playful — competition at home. Watch Matthew Rhys’ full post-win remarks as he reflects on his historic Emmy night, his two victories, Wales, his career and what comes next. #MatthewRhys #Emmys #EmmyAwards #EmmyWinner #Emmys2026 #TheBeastInMe #WidowsBay #HiroMurai #TomHanks #
