Eight women were killed in Cameroon in just seven days deaths that have intensified anger over violence against women and raised urgent questions about whether enough is being done to protect those at risk. Officials say at least 50 women were killed between January and April this year, while campaigners fear other cases may never be reported. In this film, the BBC’s Paul Njie and Michel Mvondo meet families grieving the women they have lost and examine the wider problem of gender-based violence in Cameroon including the protections available to women and the debate over whether the law is doing enough.
