What if one of the most intelligent conversations on Earth has been happening underwater this whole time? This talk explores how artificial intelligence is being used to analyse sperm whale vocalisations, uncovering patterns that challenge the way we think about language, intelligence, and consciousness itself. Blending marine biology, AI, and philosophy, it asks a deeper question: if another species may possess a complex form of communication, what does that force us to reconsider about humanity’s place in the natural world? Alice Chavarot is a student in the Lower Sixth studying English Literature, Mathematics, Biology, and Spanish. She hopes to study Biology at University and is particularly interested in animal sciences. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
