Dave Karger remembers legendary designer and friend Bob Mackie: "He was just the loveliest guy. And for how big and wild his costume designs here, he was such a sweet, and unassuming, and modest guy, so I'm going to miss him a lot." Karger interviewed Mackie many times for Turner Classic Movies, and also interviewed him for his book "50 Movie Nights," which compiles 50 interviews with movie stars about their favorite classic movies. Mackie's death at age 87 was announced on September 14th, 2026.
