Saudi Arabia is on high alert after its air defences intercepted and destroyed a Houthi drone south of Mecca before it entered the holy city’s restricted airspace. In this Firstpost Live video, Gursshheen Gahllen explains how Riyadh has called the security of Islam’s two holiest sites a 'red line', while the Houthis deny targeting Mecca. The incident comes amid a sharp escalation in attacks involving Saudi Arabia, Yemen’s Houthi movement and Iran-aligned forces. Security alerts have been issued across Mecca, Jeddah and other parts of the kingdom, while Saudi oil infrastructure and Red Sea shipping routes face growing pressure. With the Houthis controlling strategic territory near the Bab el-Mandeb chokepoint, the conflict could have implications far beyond Yemen. Gursshheen Gahllen brings you the latest on Firstpost Live.
