The Oxfordshire village of Piddington has voted overwhelmingly in favour of independence from the UK in a symbolic protest against plans to house 1,256 male asylum seekers at a nearby former military base. People who live there are furious and want to separate from the UK and become an independent state, after the Government announced plans to house hundreds of male asylum seekers near the town, which locals say will not be able to cope with the influx. Some 285 villagers backed “independence”, with a turnout of nearly 92%. Only 26 residents voted against the motion, with one spoiled ballot recorded. 00:00 | Piddington announces the referendum results 00:25 | Piddington's Parish Chair speaks to LBC 02:50 | Christina, 26, explains why she voted to leave 05:16 | Caller Tina: 'this is about men!' 06:30 | Caller James: 'nightclubs have capacity caps, why not migrants?' 09:43 | Caller Eddie: 'pro-immigration voters don't know what it's like' 11:02 | Nick Ferrari's in-depth interview wit
