Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has called for the withdrawal of the new UPI Merchant Discount Rate, accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of “prostrating” before US President Donald Trump. From October 15, a 0.4 per cent fee will apply to certain UPI merchant transactions above Rs 2,000, while person-to-person transfers and specified small payments will remain free.
