Nairobi has been awarded the 2029 World Athletics Championships, becoming the first African city to host the prestigious global athletics event. World Athletics President Sebastian Coe announced the decision at the organisation’s council meeting in Budapest on September 15, 2026. Coe described Nairobi’s bid as compelling and highlighted Kenya’s deep athletics tradition and the potential for the championships to contribute to the development of the sport across Africa. Munich, Germany, was simultaneously selected to host the 2031 World Athletics Championships, with events scheduled to take place at the Olympic Stadium. The next three editions of the World Athletics Championships will therefore be staged across Asia, Africa and Europe, beginning with Beijing in 2027, followed by Nairobi in 2029 and Munich in 2031. #WorldAthletics #Nairobi2029 #Kenya #Athletics #WorldChampionships #SebastianCoe #Munich2031 #TrackAndField #SportsNews #Nairobi Welcome to Sports TV – Your Home for Curr
