The Italian-flagged Costa Serena cruise ship has arrived at the Port of Nagoya, Japan, where it will serve as accommodation for around 4,000 athletes and officials during the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games. Organisers welcomed the ship as a “ship hotel,” describing the approach as an innovative and sustainable accommodation solution. The wider accommodation plan also includes hotels, Airbnbs and temporary container-style facilities for athletes and officials. The arrival comes amid reported concerns from some delegations about accommodation conditions, including the size of beds and cabins. Organisers say they are taking steps to address concerns and will provide support through a 24-hour resident centre during the Games. The Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games officially open on September 19, 2026, with basketball and football competitions already underway. #AsianGames2026 #AichiNagoya2026 #CostaSerena #Nagoya #Japan #AsianGames #CruiseShip #Athletes #SportsNews #Reuters Welcome to Sports TV
