Thousands of French police officers marched through Paris on Sept. 15, blocking parts of the Champs-Élysées and demanding better pay, staffing and equipment. The demonstration, organised by Alliance Police Nationale and other unions, focused on commitments covering police pay, careers and working conditions. European Parliament member and former police officer Matthieu Valet accused the government of failing to deliver a €15 billion law-enforcement allocation, while Alliance secretary-general Fabien Vanhemelryck called for higher hazard pay, which he said had not increased since 2019. During his 2022 re-election campaign, President Emmanuel Macron pledged a €15 billion increase over five years to modernise France’s police and gendarmerie forces, including more than 8,000 new recruits and new equipment. #france, #paris, #macron, #frenchpolice, #policeprotest, #franceprotest, #parisprotest, #emmanuelmacron, #macronfrance, #police, #policeofficers, #europe, #europeanews, #francenews, #par
