Protesters in Kosovo's capital Pristina threw rocks at the headquarters of the European Union Rule of Law Mission (EULEX) on Wednesday, after former President Hashim Thaci was found guilty of war crimes. The EU-backed Kosovo War Crimes Tribunal in The Hague sentenced Thaci to 25 years in prison for crimes committed during Kosovo's war of independence war from Serbia in 1998-99. The ruling was closely watched in both Kosovo and Serbia, where the legacy of the conflict and Pristina's 2008 declaration of independence remain a source of tension between ethnic Kosovo Albanians and Serbs.
