Are you worried about how social media and smartphones are affecting your kids? When one father and daughter realized that simply saying "no" to smartphones and social media couldn't prepare them for the digital world, they decided to flip the script and, together, they learned how technology works. This TEDx Talk explores parenting teens in the age of smartphones, social media, and addictive technology. In this talk, they share how intentional tech use, digital literacy, real-world community, and practicing presence can help kids build resilience, confidence, and healthy relationships - and why parents and teens never have to be passive consumers of Big Tech. Saige is a homeschooled high school student, violist with the Tennessee Youth Symphony, foster care advocate, older sister and young entrepreneur. Having grown up without a personal smartphone, she offers a unique perspective on what it means to come of age in an increasingly digital world. John and Saige are the father-daughter
